Senior Project
My project is centered around service and serving the community. I have always had a passion for making the world a better place and giving to others. Since I was little, I have been helping volunteer at my dad's organization, the CFM Foundation, running events for my aunt's organization, Our Children Making Change, and helping other organizations like Friendship Circle and Peace Players, who build connections and raise money in many different communities. This project will help me learn about specific ways leaders of organizations are improving their communities and how I can help give back to the world as well. For the first two weeks of this project, I will be in Cleveland doing remote work for the Greater Boston YMCA that my mentor, Mr. David Shapiro, runs. I will also be working with organizations in Cleveland and learning from the amazing people in those organizations. While I am in Cleveland, I will be working with Emily Thome, CEO of the Third Bank Foundation, and going to events and pitches to learn about Philanthropy and how corporations give to their communities and missions. Later on, I will travel to Boston and shadow Mr. Shapiro as I see firsthand how the YMCA helps families in the city of Boston. I will learn about service, leadership in service, and how to make the greatest impact. Mr. Shapiro is going to take me to each of the branches that work with the city at the Y, and I will work with people there to learn and help out in any ways that I can. I am super excited to start this project and continue learning how to make the world a better place with an action plan to accomplish that mission. I am so passionate about the work these people are doing, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from them.
Good job, Luke!
